A workshop cum exhibition on ‘zardosi’ by artisan Ansari Shahidhusain from Ahmedabad is hosted by the Department of Clothing and Textiles of M S University's Faculty of Family and Community Sciences.
The artisan Ansari Shahidhusain is known for his unique work of 'zardosi' and 'aari' where he has tried to do something different by giving up the traditional floral motifs and making heritage monuments from around the world instead of usual floral motifs, said a department official.
Ansari started off with making monuments from Ahmedabad and has now moved on forward by making UNESCO work. He has tried to keep alive these traditional crafts which suffered a lot when machine work became popular, said the official.
The workshop cum exhibition is hosted by the department and alumni association of clothing and textiles for department students from July 25 and 28 at the Women’s Studies and Research Center at the faculty.
The exhibition which will be held between July 26 and July 29 at the textile art museum of the department is open for all.
