Welspun Living has announced a strategic partnership with Avgol Industries to bring biodegradable polyolefin wipes to consumers. Avgol, a global leader in spunmelt nonwoven fabrics and part of the Indorama Ventures Group, collaborates with Polymateria, a UK-based company specializing in biodegradable plastic technologies.
These new wipes incorporate Polymateria’s Biotransformation Technology, enabling them to break down into organic materials when exposed to the open environment, tackling the growing issue of plastic waste.
“By collaborating with Avgol, we are setting new standards in delivering environmentally friendly solutions that align with the evolving needs of our global consumers,” said Keyur Parekh, CEO of Welspun Living.
Sivan Yedidsion, CEO of Avgol, emphasized the innovation behind the partnership: “This collaboration brings to market a unique technology we've been developing for two years. We’re confident it will lead to further sustainable product innovations in the wipes industry.”
Richard Horne, CEO of Polymateria India, highlighted the environmental impact: “This partnership marks a significant step in addressing the end-of-life challenges for nonwoven products. By leveraging cutting-edge science, we are creating more sustainable solutions for the 100 million tons of plastic waste generated annually.”
