Global leader of home textiles Welspun India Limited has announced its support for the Better Cotton Campaign (BCI) and organic cotton (non-GMO) as part of its WelKrishi initiative. The effort was created to help and educate the company's farmers about sustainable farming, market connections, post-harvest handling, financial assistance, and awareness.

This is precisely what our WelKrishi project aims to do. Our goal is to build a strong, self-sufficient farming community by fostering balanced, sustainable growth and development, safeguarding natural resources, and improving everyone's quality of life.

Welspun has built agricultural field schools to train cotton farmers in sustainable farming and necessary technological skills as part of the initiative. Farmers can also get organic non-GMO cotton seeds at a 25-50 percent discount from the company, as well as artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology for managing peasants. Its Sourcetrace app is a comprehensive management tool for farmers, allowing them to see the entire value chain from field to market.

Welspun has also helped farmers install water-saving equipment on their farms by providing financial assistance. Over 75,000 quintals of raw cotton were bought from farmers at affordable prices, and organic cotton was supplied at a premium price.
