Mytheresa, a leading luxury e-commerce website, unveiled a partnership with an upscale resale specialist, Vestiaire Collective, a prominent worldwide app for desired pre-loved apparel. By creating a resale service targeted to Mytheresa's high-end luxury clientele, the collaboration of industry experts hopes to encourage the fashion industry's shift towards more sustainable practices.
Mytheresa’s top clients will be invited to participate in the program. They can participate in a simple and efficient way via a dedicated web interface where after uploading the required information, customers will be directly informed of a price quote for their pre-loved treasure.
Mytheresa clients will get quick payment in the form of a Mytheresa store credit after the item has arrived at Vestiaire Collective and has passed quality and authenticity tests. A specialized Mytheresa X Vestiaire Collective staff will provide personal help to consumers throughout their trip. Items offered by Mytheresa customers will be accessible for purchase on Vestiaire Collective across the world.
Handbags from a predetermined list of around 20 luxury designer brands and for clients in Europe are the items eligible for resale in the initial phase. However, both Mytheresa and Vestiaire Collective have pledged to expand the service to include more Mytheresa clients as well as all product categories, including ready-to-wear and a larger range of premium labels, by the end of 2021. This is the first time a multi-brand luxury marketplace has embraced designer resale in such a comprehensive way to support the fashion ecosystem's movement to circularity.
CEO of Mytheresa, Michael Kliger, said they're thrilled to be collaborating with Vestiaire Collective on this unique and creative project. They’re confident that by offering this unique service, they will be able to provide true value to their consumers by giving their gorgeous designer pieces a second life. It also allows them to contribute to the fashion industry's transformation by incorporating circularity into their business strategy. They believe the initiative has a lot of promise, and they can't wait to expand it to new consumers, categories, and markets in the coming months.
President and Co-Founder of Vestiaire Collective, Fanny Moizant, said they're ecstatic to collaborate with Mytheresa to promote their service and their commitment to circularity. They're also looking forward to seeing this innovative idea expanded to a digital luxury platform, and they can't wait to watch how their devoted consumers react. They'll maintain raising awareness of resale as an important aspect of creating a more sustainable fashion sector. And they'll keep collaborating and battling alongside brands and retailers to encourage people to embrace circular fashion by reselling items they no longer wear.
Starting June 9th, 2021, the designer resale program will be available to select Mytheresa’s top clients.
