Veshin launches an ethical factory in China

Sustainable vegan apparel manufacturer opened an ethical factory in China, being the world’s largest textile producer and exporter it is needed to find a solution for its waste and pollution generated. Founded by Hongliang Yu and Joey Pringle, Veshin was a factory opened in Guangzhou, in May last year. It aims at ‘rewriting the rules’ in the fashion supply chain, also wants to be environmentally progressive and work around sustainability and transparency.

In contrast to the conventional fashion industries, a major part in China, Veshin commits to use only vegan materials like plant-based leather, regenerated nylon, OEKO TEX-certified recycled polyester, organic cotton and Tencel lyocell for its purses, luggage and wallets. They Are also open to working with brands that share a similar vision of sustainability and change.

Pringle says Veshin aims to lead a transparent supply chain and will be sharing the everyday processes in the production factory through their social media platforms to engage the customers. It has managed to already partner up with many ethical brands around the world like Watson&Wolfe, Votch and label A_C.

Veshin claims that it’s been avoiding using 100% virgin PU with the plant-based leather alternatives which still contain petroleum-based plastics but comparatively still a better option. Veshin is working very hard to attain certifications and validations from international and domestic accreditation bodies. After the approval, they will be the first vegan-certified fashion manufacturer in mainland China.

As China is also leading in the exploitation of labor rights in the fashion industry, Veshin is working towards BSCI audit, SEDEX and WRAP certification to make its factory an ethical and better place for workers to work.
