Vaude to extend products life through its system

The outdoor brand Vaude has come out with a new method of measuring from the product development stage to the repairability of its products.

After making the announcement of the new idea, the Repair Index would help strengthen its focus on repairability and reaffirm the brand’s stance against a throwaway society.

Antje von Dewitz, the chief executive of the company, stated that their products are to have a long service life and need to be repairable.

The index will introduce a points system that will facilitate Vaude to verify from the outset how repairable a product would be. This would allow the company to make modifications to design, material selection and processing technologies to increase the repairability of their product or product lines.

This would not only enhance the company’s worth but ensure its optimization with respect to its operations.
