Luxury fashion house Valentino, has partnered with Karma Metrix to measure the energy performance of its website, as part of its continued commitment to operating sustainably.
Karma Metrix Energy Efficient Website, an Italian search marketing and AI company, determined that each time a page is viewed on Valentino.com, 2.56 grams of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere. They did this by analyzing more than 11 million page views, accounting data, the types of JavaScript files used, the size of the images, color schemes used, and the ease of HTML coding.
It performed these calculations using its own "innovative algorithm," which was developed after analyzing dozens of web pages' energy efficiency variables to establish a sustainable and energy-efficient course.
In a statement, Valentino claimed that in order to "create a good change for the earth," it would be able to analyze its energy savings and take steps to lessen its environmental effect by regularly analyzing its digital footprint with Karma Metrix's algorithm.
Valentino explained that the long-standing problem of digital pollution brought on by online sites must finally be addressed if sustainability is to be practiced in the modern world. The CO2 emissions associated with websites are at such high levels to have created an immediate emphasis on digital sustainability. This is due to the fossil fuels powering data centers and end devices, together with the present inadequate approaches.
Ale Agostini, creator of the Karma Metrix project, said that facts suggest that the Maison, devoted to developing new digital potential inside the brand, is at the vanguard of the green transformation process. They’re excited to work with the Maison to spread the word that making the shift to a greener economy also requires more effective website creation that focuses on energy efficiency. As Karma Metrix, they are honored to encourage a change for the better that strives to lower CO2 emissions.
