Boston-based intimate-wear brand Uwila Warrior has teamed up with CiClo, a pioneer in sustainable textiles technology, to tackle the challenge of textile waste. This collaboration marks the first of its kind for a lingerie brand.

CiClo, an additive technology, transforms synthetic textiles like nylon or polyester to imitate the behavior and biodegradability of natural fibers. By breaking down the polymer chain, CiClo-enhanced fibers biodegrade at a rate similar to natural fibers when exposed to environments conducive to decomposition. Uwila Warrior's CEO, Lisa Mullan, highlighted that undergarments enhanced with CiClo will decompose in landfills within two years, a significant improvement from the 200 years it takes for non-enhanced counterparts.

Understanding the importance of fashion in sustainable undergarments, Uwila Warrior has incorporated decorative embroidery into its Better Briefs line, using sustainable thread. The brand is also exploring the use of bio-based lace for future offerings. Importantly, the implementation of CiClo technology does not compromise design options, textile feel, or durability.

Better Briefs is launched directly to consumers, and it's also available through For Days, a sustainability-focused platform known for its Take Back Bag recycling program. For Days has successfully diverted 5.5 million garments from landfills. The brand plans to expand its wholesale program in the future.
