Usha yarns incorporate yarn tracing technology

Usha Yarns, an Indian yarn manufacturer has joined hands with a strategic partner ‘The Movement’, a Dutch tracing solutions provider. The Movement bring their Aware authentication technology to the table to track the former’s recycled products throughout the supply chain.

The partnership will enable Usha Yarns to ensure traceability and product transparency while mapping good’s environmental impact. This is primitive for manufacturers to ensure sustainable textiles, yarns and fabrics as they will be targeted by counterfeiters.

The collaboration will allow Usha to offer customer assurance on the authenticity of its recycled yarns.

Based in Amsterdam, The Movement has a digital blockchain platform that works with product-specific markers that allow consumers to track and trace throughout the complex textile supply chains. This technology acts as a safe house for data which is constantly on-boarding new streams of information throughout the transaction of goods within a supply chain.

Through this partnership Usha’s recyclable yarns will be tagged by The Movement’s unique tracer particles that can be traced and identified at any point within the supply chain. The technology tracks the product from the farm to the customer ensuring that the final product contains the materials it’s marketed to have.

Counterfeiters have been known to make profits by illegally selling the product under a brand of more sustainable fibre, as there is a skip in demand for such materials within the industry. Usha produces over 12,000 metric tonnes of recycled yarn per year, and consumers can rest assured that they are acquiring what they have set out to buy.
