With its new RENU:TRACE recycled and traceable down insulation program, Allied Feather + Down—global leaders in down traceability—is once again making strides in the areas of animal welfare, sustainability, and circularity.

Allied is searching for partner businesses all over the world who are currently using down sourced through the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) program to engage in order to assist in bringing this new product to market.

Daniel Uretsky, president of Allied Feather + Down, said that recycled down is becoming an increasingly essential material for many of their outdoor, fashion, and bedding clients with demand at an all-time high. Current recycled down products have a significant issue that makes it impossible to tell how ethically the birds in the supply chain are treated because they may not adhere to RDS standards. They'll fix that with RENU:TRACE.

Every farm in the down supply chain is audited by the Responsible Down Standard to determine how they handle their ducks and geese ethically. Each batch is then assigned a lot number, which is followed by the plant, the finished product, and the client. Any down jackets now made using RDS down are eligible for the RENU:TRACE program, according to the manufacturer.

The ability to promote coats, sleeping bags, and bedding as traceable, recycled, and recyclable, with hangtags and instructions for shipping worn goods back to Allied, would be advantageous for any company taking part in the RENU:TRACE program. Additionally, participating brands would be given preference when procuring RENU:TRACE components for their eco-friendly product lines.
