Unifi introduces 100% recycled polyester yarn

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-10-03 17:04:24 – USA

Unifi, a North Carolina-based fiber innovator, has surprised industry experts with the launch of a 100% recycled filament polyester yarn, made with 50% textile content. This new yarn serves as an immediate and scalable alternative to virgin polyester.

At least half of the yarn's content comes from Unifi's 'Textile Takeback' program, which recycles both post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste. The result is a high-quality material that mirrors the performance of virgin polyester.

In fact, Unifi’s innovative yarn can even be made entirely from textile waste, marking a significant step forward in sustainable material development and offering a viable solution for reducing textile waste in the fiber industry.
