UBM Fashion Group, organizer of key trade events such as MAGIC, Coterie, Project and Stitch to launch Sourcing@Coterie which will run annually and feature a juried collection of world class factories. The launch will be at the Sept. 18 to 20 edition of Coterie New York at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York.
Christopher Griffin, president of Sourcing@Coterie, said that their brands [at Coterie] have been asking for this, and now they will be able to walk over and meet with some of the best factories in the world, all under one roof at Javits.
Coterie is one of the most well-attended trade shows featuring women’s apparel and accessories designers selling to international retailers. Sourcing@Coterie will feature a VIP selection of factories with a maximum of 100 booths and will include apparel, accessories and footwear factories, along with fabric mills.
Sourcing executives from the eastern U.S. and Midwest look to New York-based shows as a research tool for finding interesting international and U.S. resources specializing in lower minimums and higher quality production, organizers noted.
Sourcing@Coterie will consist of a selection of factories from countries such as the U.S., Japan, Europe and South America that will appeal to Coterie brands. Participating factories must go through an application process in which they are evaluated based on certifications, current customers and industry awards.
Show partners include Manufacture New York and Designers Guide Expo.
Bob Bland, chief executive officer and founder of Manufacture New York, a production incubator that in September 2015 became part of the Manufacturing Innovation Hub for Apparel, Textiles & Wearable Tech in Sunset Park, Brooklyn said that Manufacture New York is excited to represent the cutting edge of Made in NYC design and manufacturing bridging women’s apparel and accessories at Sourcing@Coterie this September.
Susan Power, founder and director of Designers Guild Expo Fabric & Trim Show, said that Sourcing@Coterie will be a “natural collaboration for them at DG Expo — many of their fabric suppliers already work with Coterie brands.
