US fashion company Torrid has become the first plus size brand to launch a resale platform in partnership with thredUP, one of the largest online resale platforms for women's and kids' apparel, shoes, and accessories.
For its Clean Out program, Torrid is the first plus-size retailer to use thredUP's Resale-as-a-ServiceR (RaaSR). With the help of thredUP's RaaS, companies may connect to its unique operating platform and offer its customers scalable, secondhand shopping experiences.
Lisa Harper, CEO of Torrid, said that they’re happy to offer their consumers an interesting and practical option to gain value by prolonging the lifetime of their items. Working with thredUP is a logical next step in their quest to grow as an impactful business because they can use its RaaS platform to help make fashion more sustainable.
Beginning on December 15, 2022, Torrid customers in the US can create a pre-paid shipping label at torrid.thredup.com, load any shippable box with clothing, footwear, and accessories from any brand, and send it to thredUP for no charge. For each item sold, sellers will get a Torrid shopping credit. In order to entice clients to engage, Torrid will offer an extra benefit for a brief period of time.
James Reinhart, CEO of thredUP, said that as the first plus-sized retailer to use their RaaS technology, Torrid is a pioneer in its field and is enabling even more customers to shop secondhand. Customers have a responsible way to give their gently used apparel a second or even third life thanks to Torrid's resale program, which delivers a personalised and distinctive experience.
