THTI to set to shape Thailand as global leader in Fashion and Textile Design by 2030

Thailand looks in to develop as a global leader in fashion and textile design by 2030, as the Thailand Textile Institute (THTI) prepares 15-year strategies to develop the Thai textile industry.

This was announced by Pramote Withayasuk, Vice Minister for industry on Monday at THTI’s textile and fashion annual conference in Bangkok during which an expo on award-winning entries from the Creative Textiles Award 2014 contest was held.

According to THTI director Suttinee Poopaka to meet the 2030 goal, the institute is ready a 15 year plan which is divided into three phases. In the first phase, THTI will develop the country as a regional centre for fashion and textile trade by 2016, and promote relevant business operators in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

In the second phase, the institute will establish Thailand as a centre for product design and development for world-renowned brands by 2021 when the country is expected to play a key role as a transit point for product distribution to other Asian countries.

In the final phase, THTI plans to promote Thailand as a world leader in fashion culture and textile design by integrating the country’s strong contemporary cultures with relevant industries.

THTI all set to to achieve its goal to shape Thailand a world leader in Fashion and Textile design by 2030.
