These are the most popular sustainable products to buy right now

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2019-03-15 15:43:00 – UK

Thanks to the rise in sustainable fashion collections on the high street, online and beyond, looking good while keeping a clear conscience is easier than ever. Now, global fashion search platform, Lyst, has given us a glimpse of what 2019 holds for sustainable fashion, and it seems our love of contemporary, eco-friendly brands isn't slowing any time soon. The new report, 'Searching for Sustainability', gives an overview of the most sustainable products people are searching for right now, proving that fashion is experiencing a "new wave of eco-consciousness."

From the most-wanted ethical products to top eco-conscious search terms, big-brand green milestones to inspiring icons pushing to revolutionise the industry, the new report shows that consumer habits are changing for the better.

The data reveals that growing interest in "sustainable denim" resulted in a 187% increase in page views, searches for "vegan leather" leapt by 119%, while a general search for "sustainable fashion" increased by 66% as we look to reduce the negative impact our clothes have on the environment.

The products lining our wardrobes are increasingly sustainable too. According to the new data, shoppers are currently coveting Weekday's 100% organic cotton jeans, Arket's High-Density Fishtail Parka, and Reformation's eco-friendly Gavin dress, which saw a huge 4,650% spike in fashion searches.

Meanwhile, after dominating New York Fashion Week this season, Nanushka’s cult Hide Vegan Leather Puffer Jacket is trending as one of the hottest vegan products of the year. This is why you need to pay attention to sustainable fashion - The most popular sustainable category of all though, was sneakers. From Stella McCartney's Stan Smith Faux-Leather Sneakers, to eco-friendly brand Allbirds' Tree Runners, to Meghan Markle's favourite Veja and their V10 Sneakers, we're hot-stepping our way towards eco-conscious footwear.

No surprises, then, that Lyst predicts that by 2020, 10% of all fashion purchases on Lyst will be made with sustainability in mind. Here's to a fairer, greener future.
