TextileGenesis, a leading platform for ensuring traceability in the fashion and textile industry, has announced a significant collaboration with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®). This partnership will use the TextileGenesis platform to implement new solutions for tracking cellulose fibers from responsibly managed forests.
The FSC®, founded in 1994, is an international NGO that promotes responsible forest management worldwide. It offers certification for products and raw materials sourced from well-managed forests, ensuring the protection of workers, communities, and indigenous peoples.
Amit Gautam, founder and CEO of TextileGenesis, stated, “We have been working with producers of man-made cellulose fibers for several years, using our blockchain-inspired technology to trace fibers from virtuous producers. By partnering with FSC®, we are advancing this effort. This collaboration will enhance the traceability of FSC certified fibers and support the management of FSC Chain of Custody certification, offering increased transparency and reliable data to all value chain players. Fashion brands can more easily demonstrate that their garments use responsibly sourced cellulose fibers.”
Fabian Farkas, FSC International Chief Commercial Director, noted, “Interest in FSC certification from the textile industry is rapidly increasing, which is a positive trend. Our collaboration with TextileGenesis aims to simplify the administrative aspects of FSC certification by automating data processes, helping brands meet their FSC procurement policies seamlessly.”
