Bangladesh textile exhibition to be held in Dhaka, where the journey of the fine weaves over the past five decades will be on display. Heirloom pieces will be showcased besides a demonstration of weaving techniques by a master weaver as well as installations of tools used in the production of hand woven textiles. A fashion show will be held to add pizzazz and dimension to the event.
The event is jointly organized by The Fashion Design Council and The Bengal Lounge. The event will be inaugurated by the Minister of Cultural Affairs Assaduzzaman Noor and Danish Ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskjær.
Leading designers Kuhu, Emdad Hoque, Farah Anjum Deeba, Shaibalshaha Saha, Shabana Ali, Mumu Maria, Lipi Khandker, Shahrukh Amin, Nawshin Khair, Biplob Saha, Chondona Dewan and Maheen Khan will present their collections. Aarong is also participating with innovative contemporary woven saris.
The organizers believe the exhibition will familiarize viewers with the fine features of Tangail saris and help identify the many styles woven in Delduar, Basail, Mirzapur, Nagarpur and Kalihati to name a few areas that remain key textile production centres.
All the participants at the show are members of the Fashion Design Council. The event begins on October 1, at the Bengal Lounge, 60 Gulshan Avenue.
