Textil Santanderina, a Spanish textile company, has introduced a new environmentally friendly black denim collection called "Advanced Black." This collection is created using a special dyestuff called Diresul Evolution Black LIQ from Archroma, a Swiss chemicals company.
Diresul Evolution Black LIQ allows manufacturers to achieve authentic black denim and wash-down effects while causing less harm to the environment compared to the traditional Sulfur Black 1 liquid dye, which is being phased out due to its toxic dyeing process and wastewater contamination. Unlike conventional methods, Diresul Evolution Black LIQ production does not result in ammonia, sodium salts waste, or liquid effluents. Moreover, it uses 73% less water and reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 12%.
This innovative dyestuff, produced in Spain, adheres to industry standards like ZDHC, Bluesign, and REACH, ensuring that it meets the required environmental and safety criteria. It not only lessens the impact on the environment but also maintains a consistent dark black shade without undesirable effects.
Ramón RÃos Quintana, Fashion General Manager at Textil Santanderina, highlighted that technologies like Diresul Evolution Black LIQ allow their brand customers to create unique and innovative denim styles and premium-quality fabrics, setting them apart in their respective markets.
Archroma’s Diresul Evolution Black LIQ is paving the way for a more sustainable future in denim production. Brands like Textil Santanderina are benefiting from this innovation by being able to craft eco-conscious collections with both aesthetic appeal and superior fabric quality, shaping the denim market positively.
