Taiwan launches sustainable uniforms for Paris 2024 Olympics

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-08-19 13:43:12 – Taiwan

Fabric producer New Wide and label manufacturer Junmay collaborated to launch the uniforms for the Chinese Taipei Olympic team participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics, demonstrating their technological prowess and commitment to sustainability.

The outer jackets incorporate New Wide’s advanced carbon capture yarn and 3D sculptured fabric, adorned with digital direct prints inspired by Taiwan’s mountain ranges. The unique design features misty mountain motifs merging with oceanic blue tones, symbolizing Taiwan’s natural beauty.

For the polo shirts, New Wide utilized cutting-edge technologies, including Nano-Ge Nylon and cooling yarn, combined with a single-sided mini loop structure. Nano-Ge Nylon integrates germanium elements that release negative ions, which neutralize positive charges in the body, promote microcirculation, and reduce fatigue.

Junmay, Taiwan’s largest label producer, contributed by designing labels using two sustainable yarns: Greencell® Filament Yarn, made from biodegradable materials, and Seawool® yarn, which upcycles discarded oyster shells into a wool-like texture.

According to the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), Taiwan’s textile manufacturers will continue innovating with sustainable technologies for global brands and athletes. TTF’s Textile Export Promotion Project (TEPP) plays a crucial role by selecting premium suppliers and promoting their eco-friendly products worldwide.
