UK-based clothing retailer, Superdry, has teamed up with the ‘greenest football team in the world’, Forest Green Rovers, to develop a sustainably sourced off-field collection made completely of recycled materials. The collection features unisex sweatshirts, organic cotton basics, vegan sneakers, and premium jackets made with 100% recycled fill to help divert plastic bottles from landfills and seas.
Superdry’s goal is to become the world’s most sustainably listed fashion company by 2030, assuring that all pure cotton items are organic and that all packaging is 100% recyclable, reused, or compostable by 2025.
Superdry CEO, Juilan Dunkerton, said that today’s consumer is concerned about sustainability and is a lot more aware of it. Forest Green Rovers share their objective of leaving a positive environmental legacy as part of their purpose. They hope to lead the way in the sustainability arena by collaborating as two Gloucestershire-based enterprises.
The Vegan Society has designated Forest Green Rovers as the world’s first and only vegan football team. FIFA has described the team as the world’s greenest football team. The entire club is run entirely on renewable energy, and the pitch is organic and free of pesticides and weed killers, with the goal of eventually constructing an Eco Park constructed entirely of wood.
Chairman of Forest Green Rovers, Dale Vince OBE, said that Forest Green Rovers and Superdry are a fantastic combination. They’re two local businesses with a global reach and a sincere commitment to sustainability.
