Steve Madden, Trashie launch recycling initiative

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-09-13 18:09:04 – USA

Steve Madden, a footwear, accessories, and clothing brand, has partnered with recycling platform Trashie to introduce a new program encouraging customers to recycle their old clothing and shoes.

Customers can now purchase a "Take Back Bag" for $20 on Steve Madden’s website. They can fill the bag with their unwanted clothes and shoes and send it to Trashie’s recycling center using a prepaid shipping label. In return, they will receive a $25 discount on their next online purchase from Steve Madden.

Trashie’s recycling process sorts every item into one of 253 categories, ensuring that each piece is either reused, downcycled, or recycled into new materials. The company states that up to 95% of the items collected are kept out of landfills.

Gregg Meyer, Chief Sustainability Officer at Steve Madden, said: “As we move forward into 2024, an important part of our sustainability efforts is creating a circular, eco-friendly approach across our supply chain. Trashie’s innovative platform fits well with this vision, allowing us to offer customers a simple way to responsibly recycle their used fashion and footwear.”

Kristy Caylor, Founder and CEO of Trashie, expressed her excitement about the collaboration with Steve Madden, saying, “We’re happy to partner with Steve Madden to offer their customers an easy recycling option.”
