Standard Fiber announces a new Carbon Offset initiative

Standard Fiber, one of the world’s largest suppliers to the home textile market and a manufacturer of basic bedding products, is launching a carbon reduction program where it will invest in carbon offsets for all cargo containers of textiles it exports from Asia to customers in the United States and 20 other countries around the world in March 2022, as part of its commitment to sustainability and minimizing environmental impact.

Standard Fiber claims that its carbon offsets would go toward accredited carbon reduction activities like safeguarding rainforest habitats in Brazil from destruction and renewable energy programs on tribal lands in the United States.

Standard Fiber’s new initiative builds on the company’s robust material responsibility platform, which includes GOTS or OCS certified organic cotton, GRS or RCS certified recycled fibers, USDA Biopreferred certified bio-based foams, RDS down, Oeko-tex certified products, and packaging made with recycled materials. In addition, the organization has introduced more space-saving and cost-effective transportation methods around the world.

Sandy Gray, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Fiber, said that as a significant textile supplier to the home and hospitality markets, they must take responsibility for their environmental impact and do everything they can to reduce it. Their new carbon reduction initiative will offset 100 percent of the carbon emissions associated with carrying thousands of cargo containers of textiles throughout the world from Asia.
