SportsShoes.com commits to become world’s most sustainable running equipment retailer by 2025

UK-based international online sportswear retailer, SportsShoes.com, has made the ambitious pledge to become the world’s most sustainable running equipment retailer by 2025.

The bold statement from the Bradford-headquartered company is in line with its environmental and sustainability strategy called ‘Leave No Footprints’, which includes a goal of becoming carbon net-zero in the future.

Brett Bannister, Managing Director of SportsShoes.com, said that they feel that there is no joy to be had standing still. moving fast, however, leaves footprints, therefore they are attempting to lessen theirs in a variety of ways.

Bannister added that as a retailer of footwear and apparel, they recognize the critical role they must play in developing long-term sustainability practices. They are committed to being at the forefront of change in the retail sector and being accountable for their products. Being the most sustainable running equipment retailer in the world is a lofty goal, but once they are fully committed to attaining. They want to run to a better place.

SportsShoes.com, which was founded in 1982 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, offers clients over 17,000 goods from 150 global running and outdoor brands, including Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka, and New Balance for running and Patagonia, Haglöfs, Mammut, and Rab for outdoor.

SportsShoes.com’s store promotes ecologically aware gear and footwear after working with its brand partners to discover products with minimal environmental impact.

After appointing sustainable innovation consultancy Ape, to do a thorough carbon assessment of its operations, the company developed its ‘Leave No Footprints’ strategy. The firm examined everything from warehouse and office operations to the supply chain, worldwide distribution, and packing quantities.
