Spinnova’s objective is to globally commercialise pulp based textile fibre

Spinnova is a Finnish wood fibre company that develops ecological technology for manufacturing pulp-based textile fibre based in Jyväskylä, Central Finland, Spinnova employing 10 experts with an objective is to globally commercialise pulp-based textile fibre.

Spinnova’s patented technology is known to save water, energy and chemicals, making wood-based textile fibre significantly more ecological than cotton or the current man-made fibres.

Spinnova’s commercial partner’s benchamark and different raw material functionalities will sense which material is used for each application. Mr Poranen stressed that, “The only thing that’s non-negotiable for Spinnova is sustainability; that raw materials are either renewable or waste material.”

The Spinnova fibre and textiles made of it are being developed in cooperation with partners and raw material suppliers.

Spinnova stands for a disruptive cellulose fibre innovation that includes no dissolving or other harmful chemical processes. A developer of a sustainable textile fibre, Spinnova will start production at its pilot factory in central Finland by the end of the year. Product development has now reached a phase where the fibre and its production method are developed on an industrial scale as told by the company.

Spinnova’s objective is to create a scalable technology concept for fibre production in e.g. joint ventures or by licensing. The first partner Spinnova has disclosed is the renown Finnish design house Marimekko. Spinnova also has several other retail brand partners committed to joint product development.
