Spinnova, a manufacturer of sustainable textile materials, has joined the United Nations' Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The United Nations Global Compact encourages businesses and non-profits to be environmentally, socially, and economically responsible. The project necessitates adherence to the UNGC's 10 generally accepted principles and action in support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

Spinnova pledges sustainable principles and improvements in human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption by signing the UNGC letter of commitment.

Janne Poranen, CEO and co-founder of Spinnova, said that several of the Sustainable Development Goals are supported by their sustainable fiber innovation, and adhering to the Compact's ideals on a practical level comes easy to them. It's an honor to make this pledge and stand beside the United Nations and the community around it.

Spinnova has committed to incorporating the UN Global Compact and its principles into its strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations, as well as participating in collaborative projects that further the UN's broader development goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals. Spinnova also agrees to report on its progress within one year of joining the compact and annually thereafter, in accordance with the UN Global Compact Communication on Progress policy, to encourage public accountability and transparency.

The UN Global Compact is the world's largest sustainability effort, with over 14,000 businesses and 3,000 non-profits from 160 nations participating. In the UNGC, there are 165 Finnish participants.
