Japanese biotechnology company Spiber has partnered with Japanese sportswear apparel manufacturer Goldwin Inc., to announce the launch of its Fall/Winter 2023 collection of five brands at simultaneously using the structural protein material Brewed Protein™️ fiber.

The demand for the textile industry to use alternative fabrics devoid of petroleum and animal products is growing, and brewed protein fiber is a structural protein material that has a lot of promise to meet this demand.

Beginning this fall, this collection will be distributed on a bigger scale under a mass production system and be accessible worldwide.

Goldwin has been collaborating with Spiber on the joint development of structural protein materials for use in garment goods since 2015 with the goal of resolving different environmental challenges related to the apparel sector.

A new Woolrich Arctic Parka created with a special fabric made with Spiber Brewed Protein will be available beginning in the fall and winter of 2023 because Goldwin holds a minority investment in Woolrich. Through Woolrich physical and online stores in the US, EU, and Japan, this unique jacket will be available for purchase.

Goldwin will continue to be involved in technology innovation for s/s 2023 and will unveil Goldwin 0, a capsule line that debuted in f/w 2022 and features a number of clothes that are more socially and environmentally responsible.

In order to reduce material waste, Goldwin 0's spring/summer 2023 collection will feature a new denim capsule made with Spiber Brewed Protein fiber as well as a package of t-shirts, pants, and shorts knitted from a unique Japanese fiber made of paper and polyester in accordance with the 3D Wholegarment knitwear technology.

The Back-Pack Vest, manufactured by blending various fibers inside the fabric core, some of which are of plant origin, and incorporating multifunctional pockets, including a back pocket for storage, is another standout item from the collection.

Due to the limited availability of Brewed Protein™️ fiber, all goods were previously sold in a limited number of units through a lottery. The company will begin mass-producing Brewed Protein™️ polymer at Spiber's Thailand facility in early 2022, eight years after the collaborative development project between Goldwin and Spiber originally began. This will be the first time Brewed Protein™️ fiber has ever been produced in mass quantities. Five brands—The North Face, Goldwin, nanamica, The North Face Purple Label, and Woolrich—all simultaneously debuted products with Brewed Protein™️ fibers after several years of joint development.

At directly run international retailers, Goldwin and Nanamica are also offered. Both companies are growing internationally. Also, we intend to work with international distributors for The North Face and Woolrich to expand their global sales, and we'll update information on our product portfolio as necessary for the product launch this fall.
