Spanish firm Recover wins the Ryan Young Climate+ Award

Spain-based leading material sciences company, Recover™, won the Ryan Young Climate+ Award at the 2021 Textile Exchange Sustainability Conference held in Dublin, Ireland from November 15-19.

Thanks to its collaboration with key industry players to drive change, build a new circular supply chain, and grow its manufacturing capacity, the company was recognized for its overall commitment to reaching the Textile Exchange Climate+ strategic goal.

The Ryan Young Climate+ Awards, now in their first year, honor leaders in the textile supply chain from around the world who have shown a vision in the development of industrial climate solutions.

Since 1947, Recover has been at the forefront of sustainable materials and recycling. The company recycles post-industrial and post-consumer cotton waste, eliminating the need to plant cotton, cutting water loss considerably, restricting the usage of dyes with their RColorBlend technology, and minimizing textile landfill waste. Recover also helps businesses and retailers accomplish their climate targets and have a major positive environmental impact by incorporating their cotton into the supply chain.

Recover is rapidly increasing the production of its recycled cotton fiber adjacent to textile waste processing hubs to satisfy accelerating demand from brands, with the goal of dedicating one-third of its capacity to post-consumer recycling by 2025. It is the first in the recycled cotton fiber space to do so.

Helene Smits, chief sustainability officer at Recover, said that they’re really thrilled to receive this award as a longstanding member and supporter of Textile Exchange. Being recognized as a climate leader inspires them to work even harder to be a change agent in this business.
