A new company from Germany called Sizekick has introduced a tool that helps people find the right size when shopping for clothes. This tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) and takes into account a person's exact body measurements. It's meant to reduce the time, money, and pollution caused by returning clothes because of wrong sizes.
Sizekick has created a tool that can be used on online stores. People have two options to get size recommendations. One is called BodyFinder, which uses AI to quickly suggest sizes that match a person's body shape. The other is called BodyScanner, where users can use their smartphone's camera to scan their own body. All they need to do is turn around once in front of the camera. Sizekick believes that offering two different options for finding the right size is important for more people to use their digital size tool.
Sizekick said that Hohenstein, a company that tests and certifies products, helped them make their AI sizing tool over the last few months. Hohenstein had also invested €1.3 million in Sizekick about a year ago. They also helped Sizekick by giving them information to make sure that body measurements and clothes in online stores match accurately.
Sizekick can now offer brands an “exclusive fit analysis” based on the partnership with Hohenstein. It is a valuable input for product teams of these brands and also benefits Sizekick’s AI.
“Our goals are to sustainably improve the online shopping experience in Sizekick partner stores and gain the trust of users by recommending sizes that fit, thereby reducing size-related returns. Working with Hohenstein has allowed us to draw upon many years of increasingly rare knowledge in the field of apparel technology, and this knowledge really helped us develop a highly accurate and user-friendly solution,” said Sizekick CEO and co-founder David Oldeen.
Sizekick believes that their new solution will be very helpful for both fashion brands and online shoppers. It uses real body measurements to suggest the right sizes of clothes.
The first companies to use Sizekick's AI sizing tool are Rrrevolve, a shop in Switzerland that sells sustainable fashion, Black Diamond, a premium outdoor brand in the US, and Marc Cain, a premium brand in Germany.
Sizekick wants to make a positive and lasting change in online fashion shopping. They want to give people all around the world the most accurate sizing experience.
Sizekick also wants to make a big impact by decreasing the number of returns and the pollution caused by these returns. Their next goal is to work with more fashion brands, stores, and online marketplaces all around the world.
As technology like AI becomes more common in shopping, fashion brands and stores are using it too. Just recently, a UK store called John Lewis partnered with Google Cloud to use advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make shopping more personal for customers.
