Sirkakulam textile showrooms recorded good sales

Traders of Srikakulam district have changed their strategy and focused on ambience of showrooms and branded dress material which brought up good business. Textile showrooms in Srikakulam district despite stiff competition from markets of Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam which are geographically very close to the district has recorded good business in the festival season.

Normally, the showrooms could do little business as majority of the people preferred to do their festival shopping in nearby towns where clothes are said to be available at an affordable rate. Varieties and new arrivals in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam markets used to attract Srikakulam consumers. Exclusive shopping market — Balaji Complex — has become a major boon for Vizianagaram traders who could entice business from Srikakulam district and Odisha.

Some customers said that an exclusive textile market was the need of the hour to retain business in Srikakulam. They can save a lot of time if all the textile showrooms are located under one roof.

Srikakulum consumers are of the view that the government and traders should look into the issue.

As many as 15 new showrooms were set up in the last three months in Srikakulam town due to which the business activity is expected to be 35 percent more this time.
