Siemens, Spinnova to advance sustainable textile production

Siemens, a global technology leader, has announced an innovative partnership with Spinnova, a sustainable textile technology company, to revolutionize fiber production in the textile industry and reshape global textile manufacturing. By utilizing Siemens Xcelerator technologies, software, and services, Spinnova has significantly reduced its time to market while enhancing its production processes.

This groundbreaking partnership is exemplified at the Woodspin factory in Jyväskylä, Finland, a joint venture between Spinnova and pulp producer Suzano. Siemens’ advanced solutions, including digital twins for product and production optimization, IT and OT integration for transparency, and robust cybersecurity measures, have empowered Spinnova to scale its innovation efficiently and confidently.

“Siemens’ expertise has revolutionized our approach to manufacturing, enabling rapid production scaling and adding credibility to our mission,” said Tuomas Oijala, CEO of Spinnova. “This collaboration not only advances technology but also sets a new standard for sustainability in the textile industry.”

Siemens’ Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) concept forms the backbone of the factory’s automation architecture. The TIA Portal integrates safety technology, line control, diagnostics, and field devices into one seamless platform. Additionally, Siemens Industrial Edge enables data collection and analysis, providing insights into energy consumption and key performance metrics while ensuring transparency for customers and partners.
