Sicomin, MADskis to advance sustainable manufacturing

Sicomin, a leader in bio-based epoxy systems, has partnered with MADskis, a Swiss brand known for its handcrafted, sustainable ski designs. MADskis will now use Sicomin’s GreenPoxy 56 resin, which boasts an impressive bio-content of 51%, in its high-performance ski production.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in winter sports manufacturing, combining sustainability, top-tier performance on the slopes, and improved production conditions. GreenPoxy 56 not only meets MADskis’ rigorous environmental and performance standards but also ensures a safer and cleaner workspace for the production team. The team hand-laminates wooden top sheets, natural fibers, and European wood cores in their boutique workshop.

MADskis was co-founded by Aurélien Ducroz, a renowned professional skier and Class40 ocean racing world champion. Ducroz has previously used Sicomin GreenPoxy resins in his Class40 yacht, demonstrating the resin’s durability. The innovative UNDO-REDO process allows skiers to repair or replace the upper layers of their skis, significantly extending their lifespan and reducing waste.

GreenPoxy 56 is a high-performance resin system made with 51% bio-based carbon content. Its low viscosity ensures efficient lamination under various processes, including hand lamination, vacuum bagging, and press consolidation. With different hardeners available, the resin addresses the diverse challenges of custom ski manufacturing, making it an ideal choice for MADskis’ innovative production techniques.
