SHEIN, an online retailer of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle products, has announced the introduction of evoluSHEIN, a purpose-driven collection that will be available to SHEIN customers worldwide starting April 29. The new brand will be an affordable option for shoppers looking to make a good effect with their product choices, with inclusive sizing, responsibly sourced materials, and a collection supporting women’s empowerment programs across the world.
Customers can proudly declare that they are supporting the work of Vital Voices, a prominent international non-profit that invests in women leaders taking on the world’s greatest challenges, such as gender-based violence, climate change, economic inequity, and more, by buying the evoluSHEIN line.
The first evoluSHEIN collection will be made of recycled polyester, a material made from plastic waste. Materials like used plastic bottles are meticulously cleaned, shredded into pieces, melted down, and spun into polyester fiber to make the cloth. When compared to virgin polyester manufacture, the recycled polyester process uses fewer raw materials and consumes much less water and energy. SHEIN’s vision of a circular economy and a sustainable future for accessible fashion includes waste reduction and the use of recycled materials. EvoluSHEIN will act as a testing ground for future purpose-driven technologies that SHEIN plans to implement across its entire collection.
These evoluSHEIN recycled polyester components and packaging were made completely using Global Recycled Standard-certified suppliers (GRS). This internationally recognized accreditation ensures the traceability of recycled materials at all stages of the supply chain and establishes high social and environmental standards. Textile Exchange, a global non-profit guiding the apparel sector toward a more sustainable future, manages the GRS. Textile Exchange is a force for collaboration and positive effect, with over 700 members representing prominent brands, retailers, and suppliers in the industry, and SHEIN is proud to be a member of this community.
Adam Whinston, Global Head of Environmental, Social and Governance at SHEIN, said that they’re committed to developing a more responsible fashion environment This year’s sustainability commitments include the launch of evoluSHEIN, which touches on each of their core emphasis areas: environmental protection, community assistance, and entrepreneurship empowerment. All of their partners and consumers are invited to join them on this journey.
SHEIN, an e-commerce retailer founded in 2012 with the purpose of making the beauty of fashion accessible to all, has avoided many of the environmental consequences associated with traditional retail store footprints because to its smart small-batch production and digital retail approach. SHEIN has advocated for a fashion revolution and developed tools to assist suppliers with new technologies that benefit the environment during the last 10 years. Traditional factories are being transformed into agile supply chains with collaborative technology systems that substantially minimize inventory waste and aid in the conservation of natural resources during the production process.
Customers from all over the world are welcome to participate in the evoluSHEIN beginning April 29. Women’s tops, dresses, and bottoms will make up the first evoluSHEIN product line, with additional sizes arriving early this summer. By the end of September 2022, SHEIN expects to grow the portfolio to over 1,500 product SKUs, with future evoluSHEIN styles incorporating more preferred materials options, such as forest-safe viscose, deliberately farmed cotton, and new certification programs for recycled fibers.
