Shri Govindaraja Textiles, part of the Shri Govindaraja group, which is a part of the larger Sri Jayavilas group, India’s one of the largest spinning group as part of its expansion after comprehensive search and closely scrutinizing the nine different states and various counties has decided to set up a state-of-the-art yarn manufacturing facility in Eden, with spending of more than $ 40 million on capital investment.
The N.C. Commerce department will be providing a $7.50 lakh community development block grant to Eden city to assist SGR Textiles with up to 50 percent of building up-fit costs from its Rural Infrastructure Authority Board. SGR Textiles handle production in an 180,000-square-foot building at 325 Summit Road that was once owned by Karastan Inc.
According to SGR, the input cost advantage and skilled workforce of Eden will abet in successfully executing the yarn manufacturing operation in Eden. It will be open textile operations in Eden which will create 84 jobs over the next three years
SGR Textiles will be installing new machinery which will be put to good use by the talented workforce in Eden to produce the combed yarn.
SGR was incorporated in 1999, one of the largest spinning groups in India has 1.1 million spindles and 30,000 employees. Its main activity is manufacturing of cotton yarn, Polyester yarn, Polyester Cotton and Polyester Viscose Blended yarn. The total group mills turnover is about Rs.700 crores in local and export markets for the year 2012-2013.
