Seed funding raised by a bamboo textile brand

Sustainable brand Ettitude has shut a US$1.6 million seed round in the US, showing increasing international demand for its natural bamboo textile solutions.

The new investment goes towards merchandise growth in Ettitude’s proprietary CleanBamboo textile range, produced from 100 percent organic bamboo lyocell fabric sourced from FSC-certified sustainable woods.

The financing round was led by Drumbeat Ventures, a US-based fund investing in breakout brands, with support from TA Ventures, a European female-founded fund focusing on technology innovation.

Explaining his interest in Ettitude, Drumbeat’s founder Adam Burgoon said, “They’re perfectly positioned to deliver their assignment of sustainability and comfort to a wider audience.”

The company, which specializes in cosmetics and bedwear, was founded in 2014 by Chinese Australian Phoebe Yu Yu after decades of operating in textile and homeware sourcing and logistics.

“There is an increasing desire among clients to really live their values. Together with Ettitude, we certainly breathe and live the understanding that most of us want to live better, more comfortable lives while protecting and caring for the planet,” Yu said.

“The investment makes it possible for us to drive new revolutionary ways we could more readily adopt an eco-attitude–where quality and comfort is not compromised by a commitment to conscious living.”

In 2018, Ettitude shifted its headquarters from Melbourne, Australia, to Los Angeles.
