Sateri's lyocell facility in Rizhao, Shandong Province, has received the Sustainable Textile Production (STeP) certification for responsible production, making it the first lyocell producer in China to meet the tough standards imposed by independent Swiss-based certification organization Oeko-Tex.

Sateri's plant also received the highest degree of certification evaluation scoring, level three, for outstanding implementation of best manufacturing practices.

Sateri's lyocell products are entitled to carry the Made In Green by Oeko-Tex product mark, thanks to its previous attainment of the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex certification.

STeP by Oeko-Tex certification is divided into three levels, each describing how far a company has progressed toward sustainable manufacturing and working conditions in textile facilities. Chemicals management, environmental performance, environmental management, social responsibility, quality management, and occupational health and safety are among the areas assessed.

president Allen Zhang, said that they now have their first lyocell facility awarded with this certification, in addition to having all five of our viscose mills Oeko-Tex STeP certified and compliant with the emission limits set forth in the European Union Best Available Techniques Reference Document (EU-BAT BREF) on polymers. This not only exemplifies Sateri's unwavering commitment to responsible manufacturing excellence, but it also represents a significant step toward long-term value chain management. Sateri will continue to collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to ensure the long-term viability of their entire supply chain.

Sateri's Rizhao factory began production in May 2020, with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of lyocell fiber per year. A 5,000-tonne lyocell pilot production line is also located on the same property. The company announced intentions to increase its overall lyocell yearly production capacity in China to 500,000 tonnes by 2025 in March 2021.
