Sateri enters the Chinese lyocell fibre market

In collaboration with Asia Symbol, a manufacturer of packaging and pulpboard, the newest 20,000 ton per annum production line will broaden Sateri’s portfolio of top-quality fibre products, and strengthen lyocell supply to the textile and non-woven markets.

Duan Xiaoping, deputy president of China National Textile and Apparel Council, said, “Lyocell isn’t only a higher value product but also an eco-friendly fiber that’s bio-based and minimizes chemical use and emissions. Sateri’s investment in Lyocell is very much aligned with the purpose of the product and technical updating for China’s textile market.”

Sateri’s Lyocell consists of wood pulp sourced from renewable plantations and is manufactured using a natural solvent that can be nearly fully recovered and recycled, it said.

“Lyocell is part of Sateri’s pursuit of innovation. We’ve worked tirelessly on creating this in recent years. While we may be the world’s largest viscose manufacturer, we are not married to any single technology or procedure for fiber production. We’re steadfast in our dedication to innovation and continuous improvement in the face of international health and economic challenges currently facing us.”

In March, Sateri reached a breakthrough in commercial production of viscose using recycled cloth waste.
