Sanyou, Renewcell announces goal to accelerate viscose fiber production

Leading Chinese viscose manufacturer Tangshan Sanyou and the Swedish textile-to-textile recycling pioneer Renewcell revealed the next phase of their relationship to make fashion circular, which dates back to 2018. The announcement was made on the fringes of the Intertextile Shanghai trade show. The new joint goal of the two businesses is to start commercially distributing Circulose® viscose fibers manufactured entirely of recovered textiles in 2024. The partnership has been made possible by Ekman Group, Renewcell’s sole international trading partner.

Patrik Lundström, CEO of Renewcell, said that this expansion of their long-standing relationship with Tangshan Sanyou makes him extremely glad to announce it. They were the first company in the world to commit to purchasing substantial quantities of Circulose®-based fibers from them. They now want to be the first to market 100% Circulose® content fibers. He appreciates Tangshan Sanyou’s vision and support for scaling up next-generation raw materials like Circulose®.”

The announcement, which comes after the recent start of 100% recycled textile Circulose® pulp deliveries from Renewcell’s newly opened Renewcell 1 recycling plant, is the result of the Circulose® product’s high quality is successfully validated in production at Tangshan Sanyou’s commercial-scale manufacturing lines. When it comes to delivering 100% Circulose® content branded viscose fibers to chosen fashion brands and manufacturers starting in 2024, Tangshan Sanyou will seek to complete the mission of producing commercial volumes of 50% Circulose® content fibers during 2023. Using Renewcell’s Circulose® ingredient brand name, the two businesses will work together to sell the fibers internationally.

Mr. Zhang Dongbin, Executive Vice General Manager of Tangshan Sanyou Chemical Fiber, said that they were able to use Circulose®, which is made from recycled cotton, in the production of their viscose fibers thanks to their partnership with Renewcell, which has greatly benefited the industry’s ability to use resources more effectively and reduce its carbon footprint. It has had a significant impact on the sustainable fashion market. They will keep working to foster positive relationships between customers, brands, and businesses, spread awareness of circular sustainable fashion, encourage the greening of the textile sector, and ensure that there is a more sustainable approach to ensure the growth of the textile industry. Their shared objective is to safeguard the ecological environment on a worldwide scale by implementing sustainable solutions.
