High street retailer, River Island (RI), has teamed up with Segura, a SaaS-based supply chain transparency platform, to help validate whether its suppliers are ethical, sustainable, efficient, and compliant.

The company just released its '12 Commitments for People and Planet,' each of which is aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Segura's SaaS solution will assist River Island in meeting its commitments by allowing suppliers to monitor and track orders, reducing the chances of using untrustworthy third parties or sub-standard factories in lower tiers.

Jose Arguedas, Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at River Island, said that Segura provides them with a holistic solution, integrating all of their supply chain management and transparency requirements, with the ability for them to expand the remit as their business needs change.

Arguedas added that they can obtain thorough reports from the platform by directly asking for information from vendors and validating it. It will enable them to spot areas where they can increase performance and save money and time across the board. Their customers want products that are safe, sustainable, and responsibly sourced, and they are dedicated to delivering just that.

Peter Needle, president of Segura, said that River Island will be able to delve deeper into their supply chain layers, revealing lower-tier suppliers and vital data regarding product origin. Their goal is for every product to come with provenance one day: accessible, reliable information about origin, route, and impact.
