Red Carpet Green Dress announces winners of their global sustainable design contest

Yuriko Fukuda of the United Kingdom and Zhi Hong Benjamin Koh of Singapore have been named the winners of the Red Carpet Green Dress sustainable design competition.

Designers were encouraged to submit a digitally designed, sustainably produced red carpet-worthy outfit in the global competition, which was hosted in collaboration with Tencel and 3D garment creation software Clo Virtual Fashion.

The international judging panel, which included Suzy Amis Cameron, founder of Red Carpet Green Dress, Harold Weghorst, vice president of global marketing and branding at Lenzing AG, celebrity fashion stylist Micaela Erlanger, and Abrima Erwiah, co-founder of Studio 189, chose one gown and one suit design.

Yuriko Fukuda, a Japanese-born UK-based fashion student at Regents University London, was named this year’s womenswear winner, while Zhi Hong Benjamin Koh, a Singapore-based fashion, textile, and product designer who studied design at Singapore Polytechnic, was named this year’s menswear winner.

Samata Pattinson, chief executive officer of Red Carpet Green Dress, said that they’re very pleased for this year’s winners to go on a fantastic adventure in the world of sustainable design with them. For those who want to immerse themselves and learn more, the worldwide design competition is a fantastic chance. She is delighted to watch Yuriko Fukuda and Zhi Hong Benjamin Koh grow and find their position in the sustainable world as a former winner herself.

According to the competition organizers, the two designs will be produced in early 2022 with sustainable eco-couture materials in conjunction with Tencel and supported by Clo. The outfits will be worn in the Red Carpet Red Dress pre-Oscars Gala in 2022 and will be on display at a Los Angeles exhibition for top sustainable activists.

The winners will also get a monetary prize, business mentoring from Samata Pattinson and Suzy Amis Cameron of Red Carpet Green Dress, as well as support and access to RCGD’s large network.
