Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc., a fluff pulp pioneer, announced that it has been certified as a “Inspected Raw Material” by Nordic Swan Ecolabelling.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel establishes stringent environmental standards throughout the manufacturing process, including regulations for environmentally friendly chemicals used in ecolabeled products. The status will display on items made with RYAM’s fluff pulp and will inform consumers and commercial buyers that the product is ecologically friendly and produced responsibly.
Vito Consiglio, President and CEO of Rayonier Advanced Materials, said that their dedication to sustainable and ecologically friendly manufacturing is exemplified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which is a crucial component of fulfilling RYAM’s BioFuture. Consumers are increasingly demanding that the things they buy be made from environmentally friendly materials. The ecolabel will make it easy for customers to recognize items created with our fluff pulp as being green, sustainable, and ecologically beneficial.
Rayonier Advanced Materials is a manufacturer of fluff pulp and other cellulose-based materials, many of which are petroleum-free alternatives. RYAM’s operations serve to support approximately two million acres of working forests by creating a market for sustainably derived wood commodities. These working woods are vital for supplying clean air and water as well as critical wildlife habitats. As a result, both consumers and commercial buyers benefit from their products.
Joshua Hicks, Senior Vice President, High Purity Cellulose of Rayonier Advanced Materials, said that to receive the ‘Inspected Raw Material’ designation from Nordic Ecolabelling for their fluff pulp means a lot to their customers, sales, and marketing team, and is the conclusion of over two years of effort. They’re working hard to achieve RYAM’s BioFuture and become more sustainable while decreasing their environmental effect, and they’re honored to have received this award.
Only a small amount of fluff pulp produced in the United States passes the Nordic Swan Ecolabel requirement. Rayonier Advanced Materials produces 245,000 tonnes of raw materials every year, all of which qualify for Nordic Swan’s “Inspected Raw Material” designation. Downstream users of absorbent hygiene products utilizing RYAM’s fluff pulp, such as adult incontinence, baby diapers, and feminine hygiene products, would be able to easily identify their products as sustainably produced thanks to the status.
