Ravel, a pioneering textile recycling startup, has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round, marking a major milestone in its mission to revolutionize sustainable fashion. The round was led by At One Ventures, with key contributions from Collateral Good, Collaborative Fund, Climate Capital, Betterway Ventures, and Moonstone VC.
Ravel’s proprietary purification recycling process tackles two major challenges in the fashion industry: recycling blended textile waste and providing a cost-effective, sustainable raw material alternative. Currently specializing in polyester and poly-elastane waste, Ravel transforms discarded textiles into high-purity recycled PET for reuse in the fashion industry. Unlike traditional methods, their closed-loop system efficiently removes dyes and contaminants without compromising material quality.
Zahlen Titcomb, CEO of Ravel, highlights the urgency of innovation, "The bottom of the waste pyramid is being ignored. We need solutions that are economic, environmental, and truly innovative—now. That’s why we created purification recycling, a new path toward a circular economy."
Ravel’s process partners with manufacturers and brands to transform textile waste into high-purity recycled PET pellets, ready to be used in new clothing. This low-energy, closed-loop approach preserves material integrity while effectively removing contaminants. Unlike mechanical downcycling or depolymerization, Ravel’s method maintains fiber quality, making it a scalable alternative to traditional recycling.
Addressing the rPET scarcity caused by regulations prioritizing PET bottle-to-bottle recycling, Ravel offers a transparent, low-carbon supply chain that helps brands meet sustainability targets without additional costs.
