Ralph Lauren Wimbledon collection
With a new collection infused with bold colors and graphic elements, as well as innovative and ecological materials, Ralph Lauren is celebrating its 16th year as the “Official Outfitter” of the Wimbledon tennis competition, which begins on June 28 in South West London.
The range includes a mix of classic cricket sweaters and historical details that coexist with classic Ralph Lauren items like the bomber jacket, polo shirt, and baseball cap.
Ball boy and ball girl (BBG) uniforms are composed of lightweight jersey with recycled plastic bottle yarn and feature innovative stretch, moisture-wicking properties, UPF 40 protection from UV rays.
Ralph Lauren has “upcycled” a colorful motif of scattered tennis rackets and uniforms from Ralph Lauren’s Spring 1992 collection on a 2021 men’s polo shirt and women’s polo dress and shorts, in addition to employing recycled fibers.
Ralph Lauren’s Chief Innovation and Brand Officer, David Lauren, said from the impeccable tailoring of Savile Row to the relaxed, laid-back elegance of the English countryside to the history of Wimbledon as one of the world’s most renowned sporting events, England has always been a source of inspiration for their business.
Maro Itoje of rugby, Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur, Francesca Hayward of The Royal Ballet, surfer Lucy Campbell, and G2 E-Sports driver Rekkles were chosen to model the new collection.
David added that they’re proud to be celebrating their 16-year association with Wimbledon. Ralph Lauren and Wimbledon have so many of the same brand values and codes, each with their own rich traditions and amazing legacy, as well as a timeless elegance – it’s been a fantastic fit. He believes it is because of this that the excitement for The Championships this year is even higher. Wimbledon has a certain charm, and he believes people are looking forward to getting back to it and reuniting.
In 2006, Ralph Lauren became the first Official Outfitter for Wimbledon, upgrading the functional uniforms for officials and BBGs to a covetable collection that draws inspiration from the tournament’s 129-year history while incorporating the brand’s distinctive preppy aesthetic.
The Ralph Lauren collection is available for purchase on the Wimbledon website.
