QAAP to boost textile industry and economy of Pakistan

Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment (ICI) Sheikh Alauddin presiding over a meeting of Steering committee of Quid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP) to review work progress on the project on Tuesday said that QAAP near Shekhupura is vital in boosting the textile industry of Pakistan as it will provide massive economic activity and employment opportunities in the sector.

The minister said that the QAAP is a flagship project of Punjab government and Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants to make it an international hub for the textile industry and trade. The completion of the project within the given timeline should be top priority of the departments concerned.

QAAP Project Director Shehzad Ahmad said that a consultant firm from Singapore has been selected, will start work after terms and conditions are settled. He added that the work on Motorway Interchange, realignment of Sheikhupura drain and construction of front road will be completed this year, while LESCO had to complete realignment of 132 KVA power line by the end of this month.

Expressing satisfaction over progress of the project, the minister directed all officers to keep close liaison with the departments concerned and avoid delay in completion of the project.

ICI Secretary Dr Mujtaba Piracha, QAAP Project Director Shehzad Ahmad and other officials also attended the meeting of Quid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP) to review work progress.
