PVH Europe, the headquarters of PVH Corp.'s European operations, announces a multi-year partnership with Infinited Fiber Company, a circular fashion technology firm, to improve the sustainability of items sold in Europe under PVH Corp.'s renowned Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands.
Infinited Fiber Company creates Infinnaâ„¢, a novel textile fiber, using breakthrough textile waste regeneration technology. It will first be utilized to make Tommy Hilfiger items in Europe before expanding to Calvin Klein products. PVH Corp.'s long-term commitment to innovation, circularity and its Forward Fashion vision to decrease all negative impacts to zero by 2030 is echoed in this new collaboration.
Infinnaâ„¢ is a one-of-a-kind, patented regenerated textile fiber with the soft, natural appearance and feel of virgin cotton. The premium-quality fibers, which are manufactured using tried-and-true technology, may be made from cotton-rich textile waste that would otherwise wind up in landfills or be burnt. Infinited Fiber currently sources old textiles locally in Finland, where they are broken down at the molecular level and regenerated as new fibers. PVH Europe joins a limited group of global fashion firms that have guaranteed their supply of Infinnaâ„¢ in the next years, as Infinited Fiber Company plans to ramp up production, with the goal of making the regenerated textile fiber a mainstream material of the future. PVH Europe may also recycle its own takebacks and industrial cut-offs as source material for the Infinited Fiber process.
Esther Verburg, EVP, Sustainable Business and Innovation, Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe, said that they’re committed to pioneering and cooperating with like-minded industry leaders to generate more inventive and sustainable goods. They are excited to work with Infinited Fiber Company to turn their trash into new goods, completely closing the loop while maintaining the excellent quality their customers have come to expect from their brands. They are excited to put this game-changing technology into action so that they may achieve a new level of circularity as they attempt to fully future-proof their business.
The first Tommy Hilfiger T-shirts manufactured with Infinnaâ„¢ will be sold in Europe in Summer 2022, with succeeding seasons seeing additional development into other product categories and inside Calvin Klein. With on-product labeling and a dedicated e-commerce website on Tommy.com, customers will be able to learn more about the materials used.
Kirsi Terho, Key Account Director, Infinited Fiber Company, said that they've been working with PVH Europe for a number of years, and they were one of the first firms to work with textiles created from their Infinna™ textile fiber. It's been amazing to watch the brand bring their concept to life, fully proving how well-suited their fiber is to the garments we all love to wear on a daily basis. They’re thankful to PVH Europe for their unwavering support and belief in their technology, and they look forward to working with them to make textile circularity a daily reality.
The Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein teams at PVH Corp. are continuing to test, trial, and scale various creative textile initiatives, such as converting waste grapes from the wine industry into leather alternatives and working with novel materials like mushroom leather. All of these activities propel the company toward a more circular system while providing high-quality products that customers know and expect.
