The textile group Proaltex S.A. S, the only Colombian firm to manufacture clothing in organic cotton having received last year guarantee Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), seal of quality for clothing in which chemicals are not used. With its collection made from organic cotton will now make its presence into international market.

With a collection of garments for babies developed in organic cotton, in several Colombian cities, the focus is now in Germany and Switzerland because they have responsible consumption and know of organic products and then the United States and Canada, for their massive purchases and undoubtedly a huge market.

The collection of “friendly” is composed of 25 pieces for boys and girls from zero to 36 months, which include jackets, blouses, t-shirts, and whose prices range between the 10 and $35.

This development has been possible due to support of the government program iNNpulsa Msmes, which contributes to the growth of the companies.

Proaltex carried out a six-month process for obtaining natural dyes in which 16 raw materials were tired and finally opted for stevia, turmeric and achiote, as free of chemicals .

The cost involved in the development of this initiative was to the tune of $130,000 and hence it has set a goal for this year to achieve sales of $250,000 .

According to a study by the National Association of Industrialists (ANDI), the 450 textile manufacturers and 10,000 garment Colombia generate approximately 130,000 direct jobs and 750,000 indirect.
