Primark launches sustainable leisurewear with Recover

Irish fast-fashion retailer, Primark has launched a new leisurewear collection for women in collaboration with Spanish material science company Recover. This collection is a part of Primark Cares range and is created from recycled materials.

The new sustainable women’s leisurewear collection includes eight pieces of classic and on-trend pieces in black, navy, white, and grey, including hoodies, joggers, sweats, tees and leggings, with the V neck T-shirt body and a matching hoodie and jogger combination serving as standout products.

Recover, a leading supplier of sustainable, quality recycled cotton fibre and cotton fibre blends, has certified and created environmentally friendly leisurewear, which is made up of between 15-25% recycled Recover cotton.

The rest is made up of a variety of materials, including polyester, organic cotton and sustainable cotton from Primark’s sustainable cotton initiative.

Director of Primark Cares, Lynne Walker, said at Primark, they believe that fashion should be more sustainable but that this should not come at a higher price. As part of their Primark Cares effort, they’re collaborating with creative partners like Recover, who have been a leader in closed-loop recycling for over 70 years, to help make sustainable fashion affordable for everyone.

She adds with pricing starting at 3.50 pounds, this collection may help everyone afford to make more sustainable and attractive choices.

Helene Smits, Recover’s chief sustainability officer said Recover is helping to close the loop on fashion, by turning textile waste into fibres that are spun into yarn and then knitted or woven into new textiles.

She adds as a result, low-impact, long-lasting, and high-quality items are created that may be worn and enjoyed indefinitely. They’re thrilled to be collaborating with Primark on this new recycled cotton collection.

Recover prices for the Primark Cares womenswear vary from 3.50 to 12 pounds / 4 to 15 euros / 5 to 14 US dollars. The collection is available in 179 locations worldwide, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
