The Prada Group, in collaboration with FGB studio, announces that it has certified the most LEED v4.1 Operations and Maintenance stores in a single submission, obtaining 80 LEED (O+M) certifications for existing boutiques worldwide by 31 December 2021, and it has also committed to LEED (O+M) certifying around 300 stores by 2024. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most extensively used green building rating system in the world and an international mark of excellence. It was designed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED-certified buildings contribute to a more sustainable world by employing design, construction, and operations methods that promote environmental and human health.
This was accomplished through the use of Arc, a technical platform that assists existing buildings and spaces in tracking, managing, and improving performance in five areas: energy, water, waste, transportation, and human experience. Each store has an FGB studio monitor linked to Arc that can measure air quality and collect real-time data.
Employees from the Prada Group took part in a study to better understand each store’s present operational features and the influence on staff health and well-being.
Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, said that this result demonstrates how important the Prada Group views the implementation of such an ambitious LEED certification plan. They take this opportunity to thank all of the valuable partners who helped make it possible. They will remain strongly committed to the sustainable development of their Retail network, which is at the heart of its distribution strategy.
