Piana Technology, a 439-year-old textile firm known for advances in the fiber and nonwoven textiles markets, has certified its Piana Nonwovens facilities to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). The RCS is an internationally accepted standard for verifying recycled material and tracking it all the way to the end product.

RCS certification, which was created by Textile Exchange, a global non-profit organization dedicated to advancing preferred fibers and materials, has expanded the usage of recycled content in the textile industry. Only materials that have been recovered or otherwise diverted from the solid waste stream are eligible for a recycled content claim. In a business-to-business transaction, the certification process demands participants to achieve standard compliance at each stage of the supply chain, starting with raw material (or recycling) suppliers and ending with the final sale.

The newly certified factories in Cartersville, GA, and San Luis, AZ, are qualified to accept, manufacture, and distribute RCS goods that meet the severe requirements of the standards. This enables Piana Nonwovens to include recycled materials into its environmentally friendly manufacturing procedures and operations.
