Pertex, known for creating high-performance fabrics for outdoor clothing and gear, has partnered with Bureo to produce lightweight nylon fabrics made from 100 percent recycled fishing net yarn, known as NetPlus. This collaboration highlights both companies' commitment to using more sustainable materials.

Pertex’s NetPlus fabrics, including Quantum, Shield, and Equilibrium, meet the same high-performance standards as the rest of the company’s products. These fabrics maintain their durability, lightness, and breathability while reducing environmental harm compared to virgin nylon. Lab tests have shown that Pertex’s NetPlus fabrics offer the same resistance to wear and tear, while also cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Andy Laycock, Pertex Brand Director, emphasized that these fabrics are designed to directly replace virgin materials, not just for limited “sustainable” collections. This substitution leads to significant reductions in fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions while supporting fishing communities and helping to protect marine ecosystems.

David Stover, co-founder of Bureo, shared that their mission is driven by a passion for the outdoors and the need to protect natural spaces from pollution. Bureo aims to accelerate solutions for a cleaner world and replace virgin plastics in supply chains. Stover expressed gratitude for Pertex's partnership and leadership in adopting responsible materials into their product line.
