Paradis Perdus introduce 100% recycled cashmere sweaters

The shift in the fashion industry has made the words organic, eco and environmentally friendly very popular. A knitwear label coined Paradis Perdus (lost paradise) launches collections made entirely from recycled materials, namely cashmere, wool, and cotton.

As many brands wash their hands after labelling 100% organic cotton sweater as sustainable don’t realise that organic cotton too requires massive amounts of water to grow. Thomas Poli, after realising how real sustainability is a complicated process decided to make the label that served met these challenges. He had dedicated his life to New York and Paris fashion labels, where he found most people were fairly clueless about their supply chains. He was shocked to see that no one really cared where things were coming from.

He stated that every year over 150 million trees are logged just to make viscose, and consumers believe viscose is good because it’s natural. He added that the deforestation involved in cotton farming was huge and that in 15 years they would have transformed 45% more wild space into farmable space, only for cotton.

Thomas Poli on witnessing the misconception depicted to dedicate a label that actually contributed to a real sustainable movement. Poli and his team had scrutinised warehouses of old cashmere sweaters to identify the right colours and textures. Then they were taken apart and re-spun into new yarns. The realised products were just as luxurious as any brand-new knits. Poli pointed out that there were garments already out there and they are using what already exists by regenerating and transforming it. He added that there was more than enough to produce new garments for the next decade by using what they had.

The sweaters also come with a long list of certifications, like the Global Recycled Standard, which verifies a garment’s recycled content, and REMOkey. The consumers can track these verifications to the source by scanning the QR code on its sweaters’ garment tags.

The new collection launched are classics that are ideal for Zoom calls, they are apt for the movement and would make great holiday gifts. The seaters can be ordered directly from the Paradis Perdus website.
